Hi, my name is Dr. Tyler Torkelson and welcome to Renegade Chiropractic. I am both honored and privileged to be a part of your journey to health. There is something truly empowering about making a decision that will set you on a path towards living a happier and healthier life. Before we get started, I thought that it would be best for you to get to know more about me.
I grew up in a small town in western Wisconsin highlighted by cows, cornfields, and high school sports. From an early age I was passionate about multiple sports, but it was when I was 7 years old that my parents took me to a Wisconsin Badgers hockey game with my cousin Shea. I fell in love. From the crowd cheering, to the band playing I was hooked. It was very clear to me at the ripe old age of 7, my dream was to be a Division I college hockey player, and I was not shy about sharing this dream with all of my friends and family. I devoted myself to becoming the best player that I could be. I spent hours on end rollerblading in my parent’s garage, practicing my stick handling in the living room, and watching every game I could find on TV.
After a successful youth and hockey career, I set my sights on playing junior hockey which was the next and final step towards a Division I scholarship! My first year of juniors was off to a great start and I was having a blast traveling around the country with my team and playing at a higher level. During our travels we visited this incredible place called Missoula, MT and I fell in love! Unfortunately, the second half of my season was cut short due to a series of health conditions. I realized at that point, I wasn’t the only one going through tough times, there were other people struggling too.
I seem to attract and have a real connection with people like me. People who have been faced with challenges that may or may not be of their own doing, but have chosen to accept responsibility. Those who are willing to do whatever it takes to not only survive, but thrive. Take Amy, for example, a mother of a miracle child. He had severe development delays, a number of different diagnoses, and had 6 surgeries by the time he was 2. Her son had fallen behind on nearly every growth chart and was unable to get the help and attention he needed. And as you parents know, when your child falls behind it has a significant effect on all areas of your life. Without the support of her husband, Amy had limited options for getting her son help. She had to go the extra mile, sometimes driving several hours each way, in order to get the necessary help so her son could not only survive, but thrive. Amy is a true hero.
At Renegade Chiropractic, we specialize in working with people like Amy and her son by being willing to go the extra mile. It’s the Amy’s of the world, those who are willing to do whatever it takes, that inspire us to never give up, and always be there to help out others in need.
We are so excited to welcome you to our team!
